Adult Workshop: Hour of Code - Introduction to Python for 16+ SOLD OUT

Code Like a Girl is taking part in the global educational movement 'Hour of Code' and inviting girls and women over the age of 16 to come along and spend the morning with us learning their first program in Python!

Python is a popular programming language that is used widely in the industry. This workshop is an introduction to some general programming concepts and terminology like types, operators, functions, control statements, loops, libraries, and some more treats, if time permits.  This class will provide you with a great starting point into the world of programming.

This adult workshop is aimed at beginners in coding. No prior knowledge of coding is required but there is an expectation that participants will have a willingness to learn and step out of their comfort zone. 

What you'll learn:

  • Introductory syntax of Python 3
  • Introductory programming concepts and data structures

Stuff you will need to bring:

  • Your laptop
  • Laptop charger

Before the workshop
Download and install Anaconda for Python 3.6 If you have trouble installing, come half an hour early (9.30am) and we'll help you with the setup. Please note that during this time we will not have time to run through a full installation, we will aim to support you in finishing any installation issues.


Prerequisites: No knowledge of programming required
