Have you ever tried creating your own website with a Content Management System (CMS) only to realise that there are great limitations to what your theme can do? All of a sudden your site looks like any other on the web and efforts to differentiate it can cost you an arm and a leg.

WordPress is reportedly the most popular website management and blogging system in use on the web today, supporting more than 60 million websites - that's 28% of the internet!

In this workshop, we will guide you through how to download and install WordPress.org which will give you access to over 50,316 free plugins and many more free themes to add that functionality that you always wanted to your site.

Before the workshop
This workshop is aimed at beginners who have a basic understanding of how to edit content in a CMS but no knowledge in installing it. No coding skills are required.

  • Difference between a Wordpress website (WordPress.org) and a WordPress blog (WordPress.com)
  • How to download and install WordPress on your hosting server
  • Creating and editing WordPress templates, plugins and widgets
  • Using WordPress as a gateway to get into coding
